Acoustic Emission of Biocemented Calcareous Sand Base

چکیده

A meter-scale model test with microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) is an efficient method to validate this sustainable soil reinforcement technique. Mechanical and physical testing methods for evaluating the biocementation efficiency of tests are still being explored. In study, a calcareous sand base was treated MICP. The mechanical characteristics base, such as strength, shear-wave velocity (SWV), acoustic emission (AE) signals, were measured via cone penetration (CPTs), bender element tests, unconfined compression (UCTs), AE tests. CPTs showed that strength increases biotreatment level, maximum could be reached at eight-cycle treatment. heterogeneity within which can reflected by differences in dry density, SWV, segmented specimens. signals from both UCTs avalanche analysis damage involves fracture friction.

Cementing Material on Mechanical Property of Calcareous Sand

It is difficult to obtain high quality samples of natural material covering a range of densities and degree of cementation, so study on the sample preparation techniques with similar mechanical properties of natural samples are very important. Experiments were carried out to study the effects of cementation of different materials on the mechanical properties of calcareous sand, e.g., the effect...

Study of the Frictional Surface Damage Using Acoustic Emission Method

In this study, the change at rubbing surfaces has been investigated experimentally using an acoustic emission signal monitoring system. A steel ring is slipped on the surface of  a metallic sheet to simulate frictional conditions. The mechanical disturbances caused by the movement of the ring produce stress waves propagating along the sheet surface. The out of plane displacement of the sheet su...

Evaluation of Acoustic Emission Inspection of Oil Tank Floor via Tank Bottom Plates Thickness Measurement

This paper deals with an inspection of defects including corrosion and leakage by Acoustic Emission (AE) in an oil tank floor. In contrast to intrusive methods such as magnetic flux leakage, eddy current or ultrasonic, there is no need to emptying and entering the tank in AE method in order to inspection. In this research AE investigation and AE source location is presented in detail. The resul...

Response of the Bucket Foundation in Calcareous Sand under Horizontal Dynamic Load

Experiments to determine the horizontal static bearing capacity are carried out first. The static bearing capacity is a reference for choosing the amplitudes of dynamic load. Then a series of experiments under dynamic horizontal load are carried out in laboratory to study the influences of factors, such as the scales of bucket, the amplitude and frequency of load, the density of soils etc.. The...
